Metoprolol Succinate

Metoprolol succinate is used for the treatment of several conditions related to the heart and blood vessels. Some specific uses include controlling high blood pressure, treating congestive heart failure, and relieving angina symptoms. The drug comes in tablet form and is taken once daily. Diarrhea, dizziness, and tiredness are among the commonly reported side effects.

What Is Metoprolol Succinate?

Metoprolol succinate (Toprol-XL®) is a prescription medicine that has been licensed to treat several conditions related to the heart and blood vessels. It is part of a class of drugs called beta blockers.
 

Are There Side Effects?

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with metoprolol succinate.
 However, not everyone who takes it will experience problems. If side effects do occur, they are often minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
