Metoprolol Succinate Dosage for High Blood Pressure
The recommended starting dosage of metoprolol succinate for people with
high blood pressure (
hypertension) is 25 mg to 100 mg once a day. After a week or more, based on the
blood pressure response and/or metoprolol succinate side effects, the metoprolol succinate dosage may be increased or decreased. Your healthcare provider may also add a diuretic (a "water pill") or another
blood pressure medication if your blood pressure is not controlled by metoprolol succinate alone.
The maximum recommended daily dose of metoprolol succinate for this use is 400 mg.
