Metoprolol succinate (Toprol-XL®) is a medication that is licensed for the treatment of:
The medicine works to decrease heart rate, blood pressure levels, and the workload of the heart by reversing the effects of certain stress hormones in the body. It is usually taken once a day, comes in tablet form, and is available in several different strengths. To help ensure your safety, tell your healthcare provider about any and all medications you are taking, as well as any other medical conditions you have, such as diabetes.
As with any drug, side effects are possible with metoprolol succinate. The most common side effects of this product include:
  • A slow heart rate
  • Tiredness
  • Dizziness.
