Congestive Heart Failure Home > Candesartan Cilexetil

Healthcare providers often prescribe candesartan cilexetil (Atacand®) for the treatment of several conditions affecting the cardiovascular system (the heart and blood vessels) -- in particular, high blood pressure (hypertension) and congestive heart failure (CHF). As an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), this medication causes blood vessels to relax, which in turn reduces the workload of the heart.

Because not everyone can take this medicine, inform your healthcare provider prior to taking candesartan of any other health conditions you have and any other medications you are taking. Drug interactions are possible with this product, for example, so knowing this information will help your healthcare provider make sure this is the right treatment option for you.

(Click Candesartan for more drug information, including possible side effects, when and how to take this product, and what to do in cases of overdose.)
