Generic Lozol

Generic Lozol, which is called indapamide, is available in two different strengths: 1.25 mg and 2.5 mg tablets. The medicine is only available in generic form because brand-name Lozol is no longer being manufactured. Several drug companies currently make generic Lozol products, including Mylan Pharmaceuticals, Actavis, and Ivax Pharmaceuticals.

Generic Lozol: An Overview

Lozol® (indapamide) is a prescription medication that has been licensed to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and water retention (edema). It is part of a group of medications known as loop diuretics.

Lozol was first manufactured by sanofi-aventis. However, it has since come off patent and is available as a generic. In fact, brand-name Lozol is no longer being made. It is common for a brand-name manufacturer to stop making a drug when generics are available, especially with rarely used medications like Lozol.
