Dyazide Side Effects

Although most people have no problems when taking Dyazide, side effects are possible. Some commonly reported side effects include sensitivity to the sun, constipation, and nausea. If side effects occur, they are typically minor and easily treated. However, serious side effects of Dyazide -- like jaundice, a rash, or unexplained swelling -- should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider.

An Overview of Dyazide Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Dyazide^® (triamterene-HCTZ). However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider.

Reported Dyazide Side Effects

Dyazide has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occur in a group of people taking the drug are documented and are then compared to side effects that occur in another group of people not taking the medicine. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

Based on these studies, some possible Dyazide side effects include:

Sensitivity to the sun
Nausea and vomiting
Diarrhea or constipation
Abdominal pain (or stomach pain)
Weakness
Fatigue
Dizziness
Headaches
Dry mouth (see Dyazide and Dry Mouth)
Vision changes, including blurred vision
Vertigo (a spinning sensation)
