Calcium Channel Blockers and Digoxin Interaction
If you take digoxin (Lanoxin®) with calcium channel blockers, drug interactions may occur. This combination may increase your risk for serious side effects. In addition, certain calcium channel blockers may increase digoxin blood levels.
Some examples of calcium channel blockers include:
- Amlodipine (Norvasc®)
- Diltiazem (Cardizem®, Cardizem CD®, Cardizem LA®, Cartia XT®, Dilacor XR®, Dilt-CD®, Diltia XT®, Dilt-XR®, Taztia XT®, Tiazac®)
- Verapamil (Calan®, Calan SR®, Covera-HS®, Isoptin SR®, Verelan®, Verelan PM®).
To minimize your risk of these and other potential drug interactions with digoxin, make sure your healthcare provider is aware of any other prescription or nonprescription medications you are taking, as well as any herbal supplements or vitamins.
