Chlorthalidone Alternatives

Several chlorthalidone alternatives are available for the treatment of water retention or high blood pressure. An alternative may be considered if bothersome side effects occur or if chlorthalidone is not adequately controlling your condition. These chlorthalidone alternatives can include lifestyle changes (such as losing weight or decreasing your salt intake) and other medications (such as furosemide or spironolactone).

Chlorthalidone Alternatives Explained

Chlorthalidone (Thalitone®) is a prescription medicine used for controlling high blood pressure or dealing with fluid retention. The medication is generally effective at treating these conditions, and most people tolerate it well. However, as with all medicines, it is possible that side effects may occur during treatment with chlorthalidone or that the medicine may not completely control these conditions. Fortunately, several alternatives to chlorthalidone are available for the treatment of high blood pressure or water retention.
