Who Should Not Take Chlorothiazide?

You should not take chlorothiazide if:
 
  • You are allergic to chlorothiazide, Diuril, or any inactive component used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of inactive ingredients.
     
  • You are allergic to sulfonamides ("sulfa drugs").
     
  • You are not producing any urine (anuria).
