Chlorothiazide: What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?
If you do not take your chlorothiazide as scheduled, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and continue with normal dosing. Do not take a double dose of chlorothiazide.
Brand-name chlorothiazide tablets are no longer being manufactured. Generic chlorothiazide tablets are available in the following strengths:
- Chlorothiazide 250 mg tablets
- Chlorothiazide 500 mg tablets.
A liquid form of chlorothiazide is also available for people with difficulty swallowing tablets --
Diuril Oral Suspension 250 mg/5 mL (250 mg per teaspoonful).
An injectable form of chlorothiazide, called chlorothiazide sodium (Sodium Diuril®), is also available for use in hospitals.
Currently, generic chlorothiazide tablets are licensed for sale. However, there is no generic chlorothiazide suspension available at this time.
