Amiloride hydrochloride (Midamor^®) is a prescription medicine used for controlling high blood pressure or dealing with fluid retention. It is known as a "potassium-sparing" diuretic. For most people, the drug is effective in treating their condition, and is generally well tolerated. However, as with all medicines, side effects can occur or the medicine may not completely control a person's condition. Fortunately, there are several alternatives to amiloride for high blood pressure and fluid retention.
