Who Should Not Take Amiloride-HCTZ?

You should not take amiloride-HCTZ if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Moduretic, amiloride hydrochloride, hydrochlorothiazide, or any inactive component used to make amiloride-HCTZ. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have kidney disease, including acute or chronic kidney failure (renal failure).
     
  • Have high potassium levels (hyperkalemia) before starting the drug.
     
  • Are allergic to sulfonamides ("sulfa" drugs).
