Drug Interactions With Amiloride-HCTZ

When certain medications are combined, there is a possibility for negative drug interactions. With amiloride-HCTZ, these interactions can lead to high potassium levels, low blood pressure, and decreased effectiveness. Alcohol, Celebrex, and Luminal are among the substances that can interact with amiloride-HCTZ. In order to reduce the risk of drug interactions with amiloride-HCTZ, your healthcare provider may monitor you more closely and adjust your dosages.

 

Drug Interactions With Amiloride-HCTZ: An Overview

Amiloride-HCTZ (Moduretic®) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of the medications that can cause amiloride-HCTZ drug interactions include:
 
  • ACE inhibitors, including:
  • Alcohol
 
  • Angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), such as:
o Eposartan (Teveten®)
  • Barbiturates, including:
o Amobarbital (Amytal®)
o Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
o Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
o Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
o Secobarbital (Seconal®)
 
 
  • Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
 
  • Diabetes medications, including insulin and oral diabetes medicines
 
  • Digoxin (Digitek®, Lanoxin®)
 
 
  • Narcotics, such as codeine, hydrocodone, morphine, and many others
 
  • Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as:
o Diclofenac (Cataflam®, Voltaren®)
o Ibuprofen (Motrin®, Advil®)
o Indomethacin (Indocin®, Indocin SR®)
  • Potassium-containing products, such as:
o Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
o Potassium citrate (Urocit-K®, Polycitra-K®)
o Potassium gluconate
o Potassium phosphate (Neutra-Phos-K®, K-Phos®)
o Salt substitutes (used to flavor food)
 
  • Tacrolimus (Prograf®)
