Aldactone Drug Interactions

When alcohol, ACE inhibitors, or digoxin is combined with Aldactone, drug interactions could occur. Some interactions can increase your risk of high potassium levels in your blood, while others may increase your risk of low blood pressure. Other medications that can cause negative drug interactions with Aldactone include barbiturates, lithium, narcotics, and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

 

An Overview of Aldactone Drug Interactions

Aldactone® (spironolactone) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of these medicines that can cause Aldactone drug interactions include:
 
  • ACE inhibitors, including:

 

 

 

 

  • Barbiturates, including:

 

    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)

 

 

 

  • Potassium-containing products, such as:

 

    • Potassium chloride (K-Dur®, Klor-Con®, Micro-K®)
    • Potassium citrate (Urocit-K®, Polycitra-K®)
    • Potassium gluconate
    • Potassium phosphate (Neutra-Phos-K®, K-Phos®)
    • Salt substitutes (used to flavor food)
